Required Information to check your Australia Visa
To check the status of your Australian visa, you’ll need to provide certain information, including:
- Personal identification: Full name, date of birth, and nationality as per your passport.
- Passport or travel document: The passport or travel document used when applying for your visa.
- Reference number: This can be your Transaction Reference Number (TRN), Visa Grant Number, or Visa Evidence Number.
If you’re unsure of your TRN, you can often find it in your ImmiAccount under the “online lodgement summary” screen.
The visa grant number in your grant notification may relate to a visa that is not “in effect.” You will only be able to access your visa details when you use the grant number of your current visa.
In case you need more information on accessing your Visa Grant Number, you can visit the VEVO Request for Reference Number Form.

Official Australian government channels for visa status verification
Applicants now have multiple options to track their visa status. They can use the VEVO website, using the myVEVO app, monitor through ImmiAccount, and contact official Australian government information channels.
Using ImmiAccount
ImmiAccount is an online platform designed to streamline your Australian visa journey. It allows you to manage various tasks related to your visa applications, including checking status, uploading documents, and updating personal information.
To check your visa status using ImmiAccount:
- Log in to your ImmiAccount: If you don’t have an account, create one first.
- Navigate to your applications: This section will display the status of your visa applications if you applied online.
- Locate your visa grant number or TRN: Your visa grant number or Transaction Reference Number (TRN) can be found here, especially if you applied for your visa through ImmiAccount.
Apart from ImmiAccount, you can also find your visa grant number on the visa grant notification you received by email or post. Beyond checking visa status, ImmiAccount allows you to manage other aspects of your visa application, such as uploading documents and updating personal details.

Using VEVO website
The Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) is an online platform provided by the Australian Government for visa holders to check their visa status. It allows you to view your current visa details, including type, validity period, and conditions.
To check your visa status using VEVO:

- Select “Check your Visa details with VEVO”: On the homepage, click the button labeled “Check your Visa details with VEVO.”

- Provide additional information: Enter your passport date of birth, travel document number, and the country of the document.
